May 7 - Treat Yourself

Hopefully, you have a few new journal entries in your summer journal and you have found time to truly reflect on your life and the things that make you happy.

The challenge today is simple!

Yes, you heard right!  Have a cupcake, go for a manicure, take a bubble bath, pop some popcorn, get a massage, go to a matinee, take a nap!  Buy yourself a special gift; jewelry, shoes, a new bag, music, etc.

"Why?", may you ask.  Let me explain, every time I reflect on my life, I tend to scrutinize the decisions I have made.  I wonder if I am headed down the right path, if I am making the right choices, if I am doing the best that I can.  Simply, too much time reflecting on one's life can be exhausting and can leave you feeling a little down in the dumps.

WELL, cheer yourself up and don't allow yourself to regret past decisions.  The point of this is to move forward with a strong understanding of where you are and where you want to go.  So, treat yourself to something special today.  In fact, if you are on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook...take a picture of it and tag your picture with #LMLP so we can see how you chose to treat yourself.  :)

As a treat to our readers, we are offering a special giveaway from one of our sponsors.  Darker Blue is the wonderful sponsor and we are so excited to have them this summer!  You can find some lovely items on their Etsy shop, just click on their logo to the left.  Darker Blue is offering this lovely bracelet...

  1. How do I live my life to the fullest? Hmm... I am learning to be conscious of my surroundings- really taking a look at where/what/whom I'm spending my time on, and then letting go of the things that are no longer a source of happiness and positivity. See, I tend to side with fear, and consistently re-evaluating my life has allowed me to shake things up and chase after true happiness. :)

*I have DEFINITELY made Darker Blue (cuuute stuff!) a favorite and I follow/like LMLP on all three platforms!

  2. Megs, I love your thoughts. Being conscious of your surroundings is key. Sometimes the where/what/whom isn't always what you think it may be and true analysis will reveal the true negativity!

Thanks for following! Entry #1, #2 and #3!

  3. Live my life to the fullest, that is hard. I try everyday to express how thankful I am for my wonderful family. Through words or actions. Life is short, we need to appreciate the small things. I also try and take a minute or two each day, (usually when Inoke is napping) to relax and enjoy the silence by reading a book, blogging, sitting in the sunshine for some vitamin d, or just taking a quick cat nap. Helps to refresh my mind and regroup for the day.

  5. Lorien, thanks for entering! It's amazing how hard it can be for some to simply be in silence, I love that you take advantage of that quiet time each day. Also, I agree that it is so important to appreciate the little things that make our lives so special!

  6. I'm honestly blessed with many friends and family who help me live my life to the fullest. I go on hiking trips with friends, cook dinners with my father, and attend yoga practice at least a few days a week. Every once in a blue moon I like to throw in a life thrill such as sky diving or a week long camping trip out in the middle of nowhere. It regrounds me with nature and pulls me back to basics.

  7. honestly, most days it's one day at a time. if you look too far into the future it can create anxiety and if you look to the past too much it can cause you to be "stuck". so I try to enjoy what I can each day, with family, a book, a good weather day...what have you and it keeps me grateful and easier to live with I'm sure :)

  9. Often I feel that 24 hours is too short to accomplish everything I want to do. So lately I've tried to have events and activities planned for each day in order to take advantage of every second possible. The daily and unique activities I plan each day gets me through my work and always gives me something to look forward to doing such as a movie night with friends, weekend camping trip, service project, shopping trip, etc. But I've come to find that I can't do the same activities over and over. I like to do a mixture of things so that I can experience everything life has to offer.

  10. I love this time of life right now. It is busy and crazy and gives you the chance to enjoy the down time moments. Life gets so busy with school and work that living life to the fullest is a priority to keep me sane. This summer I made a list of activities I want to do like going to the zoo or hiking Timp, something to keep me motivated and break up the work week. Variety is the spice of life!

  11. I like to adventure out of Utah and go anywhere were the sun is shining. I am kind of a sun baby and love to be where it is hot. Those of you who know me know that I am always cold. I like to do watersports and currently trying to master jumping the wake in wakeboarding. Thats about as risky as I get. I love having a good time doesn't matter what just as long as I am with good friends or family. :) Life is to short to be miserable :)
